Rice to visit Russia next week on missile defense

    WASHINGTON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit Russia next week for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the U.S. plan to deploy missile defense system in East Europe, State Department Sean McCormack said Monday.

    "There are a lot of issues to talk about in the U.S.-Russia strategic relation, spanning from nuclear nonproliferation to missile defense to the development of democracy in Russia," McCormack said.  Full story

Rice to focus on missile defense in Moscow tour

    MOSCOW, May 8 (Xinhua) -- United State Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will strive to sell U.S. plans to deploy anti-missile systems in central Europe during her visit to Moscow next week, which has sparked rows between the Cold War rivals, news agencies said on Tuesday.

    During the visit slated for May 14-15, the top U.S. diplomat will discuss with her Russian colleagues on a wide range of bilateral and global issues, according to the Itar-Tass news agency. Full story
