BEIJING, May 10 (Xinhuanet)
-- Artist Daniel Edwards's latest odd statue features hotel heiress
and socialite Paris Hilton -- naked, provocatively posed, and seemingly dead,
undergoing an autopsy, U.S. media reported on Thursday.
For a show warning teens about
underage drinking in New York, the sprawled-out "Hilton" clutches a cocktail
glass in one hand and a cellphone in the other as her distressed dog,
Tinkerbell, jumps across her bare chest. She and the animal wear matching
tiaras.
Edwards started making the work in polyester resin in
January after the infamous party girl's arrest.
"The Paris Hilton Autopsy" is a statement about the
dangers of drunk driving just as high school prom season rolls around, said
Edwards, who also sculpted a giant head of Cuban President Fidel Castro and
created a life-size nude of Britney Spears giving birth on a bearskin rug.
Edwards said he's using the jail-bound celebrity "as
a vehicle for a public-service announcement, to educate teens."
Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz, did not immediately
return a call for comment Wednesday.
Hilton, 26, pleaded no contest in January to
alcohol-related reckless driving. On Friday, she was sentenced to 45 days in
jail for violating her probation on that offense by driving on a suspended
license.
