BAGHDAD, May 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney arrived in Baghdad on Wednesday on unannounced visit, the U.S. embassy said.
Cheney would meet U.S. officials and commanders and senior Iraqi leaders, an embassy spokesman said.
Media reports said that Cheney was expected to meet Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, President Jalal Talabani and his Sunni and Shiite vice presidents to press reconciliation efforts among the Iraqi rival factions.

WASHINGTON, May 3 (Xinhua)-- U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney isdue to visit the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan on May 8-14, the White House announced Thursday.
During his one-week visit, Cheney will meet with UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, and Jordan's King Abdullah II, Cheney's office said in a statement. Full story
