MOSCOW, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Russian police have seized a large number of weapons, including explosive devices, in the southern Dagestan Republic, the Itar-Tass news agency reported on Tuesday.

Those military equipment was found at a private house on Pobeda Street in Khasavyurt, a city near the Caspian Sea coast, Itar-Tasscited an unnamed source at local Interior Ministry.

"The arsenal was meant for perpetrating terrorist acts in Khasavyurt and other cities of the republic during VE-Day celebrations on May 9," the source was quoted as saying.

Russia will celebrate the VE-Day, marking the Allies' victory on the European front in World War II in 1945, including a military parade on the Red Square Wednesday.
