Gates seems to run counter to Bush's
strategy
LOS ANGELES, May 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of Defense
Robert Gates may not be following President George W. Bush's strategy the
president pushes for more time and money for the war, it was reported
Sunday.
Gates' voice has been missing from the war chorus led
by Bush who has mobilized his administration, including his top general in Iraq,
in a major push to win more time and money for his war strategy, the Los Angeles

Pentagon to deploy 12,000 National
Guard troops to Iraq
WASHINGTON, April 9 (Xinhua) -- More than
12,000 National Guard troops will begin deployment to Iraq in December, the
Pentagon announced Monday.
It is the latest deployment in what has become the largest
National Guard mobilization of its kind since the Vietnam era, according to NPR

Pentagon to send 1,000 troops to Iraq
ahead of schedule
WASHINGTON, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Pentagon said Friday
that it will send some 1,000 troops to Iraq three months ahead of the schedule
in order to quell growing violence in Baghdad.
The Pentagon said in a statement that the troops from the
3rd Army Infantry Division headquarters in Fort Stewart, Georgia, will be
dispatched to Baghdad in March instead of June as originally planned. Full story
