PARIS, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Nicolas Sarkozy of the right wing has won the French presidential race by winning 53.7 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results released by the Interior Ministry on Sunday.

    Segolene Royal got 46.3 percent.

    Royal conceded defeat shortly after unofficial results were unveiled at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT).¡¡
