GAZA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic
Jihad (Holy War) movement on Saturday claimed responsibility for launching three
homemade rockets into southern Israel.
In a statement sent to the press, al-Quds Brigades said they have fired two
rockets on Sderot and a third one on the coastal city of Ashkelon.
Israeli sources said a rocket caused damage to a house in Sderot city, but
no injuries occurred.
The brigades said that they launched the attacks to retaliate the killing
of three Islamic Jihad militants in West Bank city of Jenin a day earlier.
A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the Israeli
raid in Jenin, saying it blocks the efforts to expand a state of calmness with
Israel.
Gaza militants vow to continue launching makeshift rockets against Israel
as long as the Israeli army keeps up daily operations in West Bank to detain
what Israel calls "wanted Palestinians."
The Israeli army arrested overnight three Palestinians in the holy city of
Bethlehem, Palestinian security sources said.
