BELGRADE, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Croatia will put two generals on trial next month for war crimes committed in the southern part of the Balkan nation during the Serb-Croatian war in the early 1990s,according to a media report received here on Thursday.

Croatia's Hina news agency identified the defendants as Mirko Norac and Rahim Ademi, saying they were behind a commando blitz through an area held by rebel Serbs in September 1993, killing about 30 civilians.

Croatia declared independence from the former Yugoslavia in 1991, but its Serb minority seized a third of the country by force. In 1995, Croatia crushed the rebellion.

The trial, set to start on June 18, will have nine hearings before the summer break, the report said, citing Zagreb county court spokesman Kresimir Devcic.

The case was reportedly transferred to the Croatian judiciary from the Hague war crimes tribunal for former Yugoslavia.
