HONG KONG, April 29 (Xinhua) -- A strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit the Andrean of Islands southwest of Alaska at 1252 GMT Sunday, the Hong Kong Observatory said in a news bulletin.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the epicenter was initially determined to be 52.1 degrees north latitude and 179.9 degrees west longitude, about 2,090 kilometers west-southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
