JERUSALEM, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Sunday that his country will not tolerate continued attacks by the Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, local daily Ha'aretz said.
Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting, Olmert said Israel is not interested in an escalation, but cannot turn a blind eye to Qassam rocket attacks and Palestinian militants' attempt to infiltrate from the Strip, the report said.
The prime minister added that a message to that effect had been passed to the Palestinians through international mediators.
According to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi and head of Shin Bet security service Yuval Diskin will brief ministers at Sunday's cabinet meeting on the security situation in the Gaza Strip.
Ministers will also discuss plans to increase transit activities at the Kerem Hashalom border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt and to expand air traffic with Egypt and Jordan.
