Hu Jintao meets KMT Honorary Chairman Lien Chan

    BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, met here Saturday with Kuomintang (KMT) Honorary Chairman Lien Chan.

    BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Kuomintang (KMT) Honorary Chairman Lien Chan on Saturday urged Taiwan authorities to stop cutting the island off from the mainland and open negotiations to boost cross-Strait ties.

    While the mainland has opened to the entire world, Taiwan authorities continue to curb the island's access to the huge mainland market, said Lien at the opening ceremony of the third cross-Strait economic, trade and cultural forum being held here.  Full story
