Germany extends military mission to Sudan's Darfur

    BERLIN, April 27 (Xinhua) -- The German parliament voted Fridayto extend the mandate of the country's military mission to Sudan'sDarfur region by six months till mid-November.

    It was passed by 479 to 32 votes with 23 abstentions as all butthe Left party support the measure. The German government agreed to extend the mandate in March.

    There are 75 German troops in the UN Mission in Sudan (UNMIS), with 39 unarmed soldiers currently stationed in the region.

    The parliament approved sending the small military mission to Sudan in April 2005.
