Osasuna edge over Sevilla in UEFA Cup semi

    MADRID, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Osasuna defeated Sevilla 1-0 at home in the all-Spanish UEFA Cup semifinal first leg on Thursday as the latters were chasing to retain their trophy.

    Striker Roberto Soldado scored the winner 10 minutes into the second half when he beat two defenders and keeper David Cobeno with a header.

    However, Soldado, who is on loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season, will miss next week's second leg after picking up a booking moments before the goal.

    Osasuna, who downed Bayer Leverkusen of Germany 4-0 on aggregate in the last round, also lost a string of scoring chancesas Lopez, Soldado and striker Savo Milosevic all went close after the goal.

    Dutch referee Eric Braamhaar tore a muscle in his calf and the game was restarted six minutes later with fourth official Pieter Vink in charge.

    For holders Sevilla, striker Frederic Kanoute went close early on when he hooked the ball over the bar.
