KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Some 50 Malaysian pupils were sent to hospital Wednesday for suspected food poisoning after drinking milk provided by their school in the northwestern state of Kedah.

Those pupils from a school in Sungai Petani area, aged between seven and 11, complained of vomiting and diarrhea several hours after drinking from the milk cartons supplied by the school.

Seven were warded while the rest received outpatient treatment, the national news agency Bernama reported.

Those students were first taken to a nearby clinic before transferring to the hospital.

The report said the expiry date suggested on the milk cartons is Dec. 27, 2007.

For the Sungai Petani area, this is the second suspected "milk poisoning" case in barely two weeks that took place in a school.

On April 16, 18 pupils complained of similar symptoms after drinking milk provided under the school's food program.
