SHENYANG, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Lien Chan, honorary chairman of the
Kuomintang (KMT) Party, on Wednesday morning swept the tombs of his mother Zhao
Lankun's ancestors in Shenyang, an industrial city in northeast China.
Zhao, who is 100 years old and lives with Lien in Taiwan, is a native of
Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning province. She has not seen her hometown since
the September 18 Incident in 1931.
Lien's wife, Lien Fangyu, and their children took part in the tomb-sweeping
ceremony in a park in the suburbs of Shenyang.
Lien Chan arrived in the northeastern city on Tuesday afternoon with a
27-member delegation from Taiwan. After visiting Tianjin, he and his entourage
will go on to Beijing to attend the third cross-Straits economic, trade and
cultural forum scheduled for April 28-29.
This is the fourth visit Lien Chen has made to the mainland since April
2005.
