BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- China on Tuesday strongly condemned a violent armed attack on a project team of a Chinese oil company in the southeastern region of Ethiopia.

    Nine Chinese were killed, one slightly injured and seven others kidnapped in the attack by more than 200 unidentified gunmen, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao.

    Some Ethiopians were also killed or injured in the attack, said Liu.
