    BEIJING, April 22 -- Around 40 teams of kite enthusiasts from more than 20 countries and regions have gathered to compete in the Third World Kite Championship in Weifang in eastern China's Shandong province.

    The championship is just one of the events being held for the 24th Weifang International Kite Festival. This internationally-recognized festival has been held every year since 1984.

    Weifang is known as the "world's kite capital," thanks to its long kite-making tradition.
