BEIJING, April 22 -- As a part of the 5th Beijing International Drama Festival, the main cast members of the newly-adapted historical Peking opera "Empress Wu Zetian" and the Yue opera "Zhao the Orphan" met college students at Peking University Centennial Hall on Friday.

Teaming up with lead actresses, the two directors of the opera, Zhang Manjun and Wang Xiaoying displayed video extracts from their opera performances, and shared their conceptions of traditional opera with the students.

To add more interaction to the event, an opera lover from the university was invited to perform a segment of a Peking opera with the lead protagonist from "Empress Wu Zetian", a collaboration which received long and lasting applause.

Peking opera "Empress Wu Zetian", Yue opera "Zhao the Orphan" and Huangmei Opera "A Dream of Red Mansions" are to be staged during the International Drama Festival at Chang'an Grand Theatre between April 24 and May 2.
