BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official urged overseas Chinese youth to make contribution to rejuvenation of the Chinese nation here on Saturday.

Wang Zhaoguo, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks at the closing ceremony of the second meeting of the Youth Committee of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.

Wang encouraged the overseas Chinese youth to link their personal careers with the country's prospects and make contributions to the great cause of China's rejuvenation.

Wang, also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said both the overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese are important forces in promoting China's scientific development and construction of a harmonious society.

"Overseas Chinese youth should bring their own advantages into full play and serve the country through various channels to promote its social and economic development," he said.

He said exchanges between youth across the Taiwan Strait need to be strengthened.

He required the overseas Chinese youth to introduce China's reform and opening-up policy and China's great achievements of modernization to the outside world.

More than 500 members from 60 countries attended the meeting, which opened on April 19.
