Roadside bomb hits U.S. patrol in Baghdad

    Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, April 21 (Xinhua) -- A roadside bomb went off near a U.S. patrol in eastern Baghdad district on Saturday, damaging a U.S.Humvee and wounding two U.S. soldiers, a well-informed policesource said.

    "A roadside bomb detonated around midday near a passing U.S.patrol in the Baladiyat district, damaging a Humvee and woundingtwo soldiers aboard," the source told Xinhua on condition ofanonymity.

    The U.S. troops cordoned off the scene after the incident, headded.

    However, the U.S. military did not confirm the incident yet.Insurgents frequently attack U.S. and Iraqi security forces inBaghdad and others Iraqi cities despite the ongoing securitycrackdown aimed at curbing insurgency and sectarian violence inthe war-torn country.
