BOAO, Hainan Province, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Wu
Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress,
China's top legislative body, met with delegates of the Boao Forum for Asia
(BFA) here Friday.
Among the delegates were members of the BFA Board of
Directors, senior government officials, business leaders and scholars and
experts, speakers attending the BFA annual conference, and delegates to BFA
youth forum.
The opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia 2007
annual conference is scheduled for April 21 in this coastal scenic town in
China's southernmost island province of Hainan. Wu will deliver a keynote speech
at the opening ceremony.

Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's
Congress (NPC), said here on Friday that China would like work together with
Pakistan to continuously push forward bilateral relations
Wu made the remark in his meeting with Pakistani
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, who is in Boao, south China's Hainan province, to
attend the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) scheduled to open
on April 21.

BOAO, Hainan Province, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Wu
Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress,
met here Friday with officials and business people from Hong Kong and Macao who
are here to attend the Boao Forum for Asia annual conference.
Wu met with Edmund Ho Hau Wah, Chief Executive of
Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Henry Tang Ying-yen, Financial
Secretary of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), as well as a group
of business people from the two regions.
Chinese top legislator meets Vincent

BOAO, Hainan Province, April 20 (Xinhua) -- China's
top legislator Wu Bangguo met here Friday with Vincent Siew, chairman of
Taiwan-based Cross-Strait Common Market Foundation, and a delegation consisting
of Taiwan entrepreneurs on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia annual
conference.
Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the
National People's Congress (NPC), said the cross-strait economic development
depends on a peaceful and harmonious environment.
BFA to look at corporate social
responsibility and global warming
BOAO, Hainan Province, April 20(Xinhua)-- The Boao
Forum for Asia (BFA) should promote corporate social responsibility, BFA
Secretary-General Long Yongtu said at a news conference here Friday.
The BFA, an annual gathering of business and
political leaders on China's southern Hainan island, has attracted 1,410 guests
this year, including Bill Gates and 679 other business leaders, from 36countries
and regions.
Foreign media clamor to report Asian
"Davos"
BOAO, Hainan Province, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Foreign
media will be partners for the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) for the first time,
according to a BFA press officer here Friday.
The Financial Times, Bloomberg and BBC World have
become the BFA's official media partners, said Li Qian, press officer of the BFA
secretariat.
BFA Chairman Ramos: BFA not trying to
undermine Davos
BOAO, Hainan province, April 20 (Xinhua) -- The Boao
Forum for Asia (BFA) has no intention of replacing the World Economic Forum
(WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, said BFA chairman Fidel Ramos here Friday.
Ramos, former president of the Philippines, told a
press conference that the aim of the BFA is to provide a platform for Asian
economies to discuss macroeconomic issues and subjects closely related to the
life of Asian people.
