WASHINGTON, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Several buildings of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota were evacuated Wednesday because of a bomb threat, two days after deadly shootings at Virginia Tech left 33 people dead, U.S. media reported.

A bomb threat note was found at one building in the university early afternoon by a professor. Subsequently, the building and surrounding buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

All classes in those buildings for the day were canceled, and students were told to return to their residence halls.

The bomb threat followed similar threats Tuesday which forced universities and middle and high schools to close down in at least10 states.

On Monday, 33 people, including the gunman, were killed at Virginia Tech in the deadliest campus shootings in U.S. history.
