BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Delegates to the 36th
World Magazine Congress to be held in Beijing next month will be trying to
figure out how to remain relevant in the digital age.
Representatives from Time Magazine and National Geographic and some 400 Chinese magazine publishers will
attend the congress which is expected to draw more than 1,000 delegates from
more than40 countries and regions.
Under the theme "magazines enrich your world",
discussion topics will focus on hot issues concerning the development of the
magazine industry.
Seminars will tackle subjects such as the impact of
digital media on traditional magazines, increasing advertising revenue and the
changing tastes of readers.
Shi Feng, chairman of China Periodicals Association
(CPA) said China's magazine publishers cherish the opportunity to learn from the
international magazine industry.
The World Magazine Congress, initiated by the
International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP), which was founded in
1925, is held every two years. The CPA, on behalf of China's magazine industry,
joined the FIPP in 2000.
