TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen
Jiabao met with Japanese Emperor Akihito at the Imperial Palace on Thursday.
The two reviewed the development of Sino-Japanese
relations and agreed that the harmonious co-existence of the two peoples is
conducive to the two countries, Asia and the world as a whole.
Both sides voiced the hope that the two countries
will make joint efforts to realize the goal of peaceful co-existence,
long-lasting friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation and common development.
Wen arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day
official visit, the first by a Chinese premier in seven years.

TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed Thursday
to push forward cultural exchanges, which serve as bonds linking the two
countries.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the China-Japan
Culture and Sports Exchange Year, Wen said that economy and culture have been
the two bonds linking China and Japan in their friendly exchanges over the past
more than 2,000 years.
China, Japan launch high-level
economic dialogue mechanism
TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- China and Japan jointly
launched a high-level economic dialogue mechanism here on Thursday to further
promote economic and trade ties between the two countries.
The first meeting of the economic dialogue mechanism
is expected to be held this year in Beijing.
FM: China wants to enhance co-op with
Japan on energy
BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese Foreign
Ministry spokesman said on Thursday that China would like to learn from Japan
and work more closely with Japan in the energy sector.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said this at a
regular press conference, held a day after Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe signed a joint press communique calling for
stronger cooperation on energy and environmental protection.
Chinese premier meets Japanese party leaders, reiterates
friendship and co-op
TOKYO, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Premier
Wen Jiabao met here separately with several Japanese party leaders Thursday,
with the two sides expressing willingness to further cooperate to promote the
long-term and healthy development of bilateral relations.
Wen met with Hidenao Nakagawa, secretary general of
the Liberal Democratic Party, Akihiro Ota, head of the New Komeito Party, Ichiro
Ozawa, leader of the Democratic Party of Japan, Mizuho Fukushima, the Social
Democratic Party leader, as well as with Kazuo Shii, leader of the Japanese
Communist Party, and several other party leaders.
