Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq     

    BAGHDAD, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Task Force Lightning soldier was killed and two others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in north east of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Friday.The attack occurred on Thursday when the roadside bomb explodednear a military vehicle in Diyala province, the military said in astatement.

    More than 3,265 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.

    BAGHDAD, April 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. military announced in a statement on Thursday the death of five of its soldiers and four others wounded in insurgent attacks on Wednesday.

    Two U.S. soldiers were killed and three others wounded when a roadside bomb went off near their vehicle while conducting security patrol in southern Baghdad, said the statement. 

Four U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq

    BAGHDAD, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. military said on Tuesday that four U.S. soldiers were killed and two more wounded in insurgent attacks in Iraq on Monday.

    A marine was killed while conducting combat operations in the volatile Anbar province in western Iraq, the U.S. military said in a statement.
