PARIS, April 5 (Xinhua) ¨C International Police Organization (Interpol) on Thursday issued a warning over the "particularly worrying" role of the internet in the "recruitment" and "training" of terrorists, during a conference held in Lyon, French southeastern city.

More than 200 anti-terrorists specialists from 80 countries took part in the conference on April 3-5 on the theme of "preventing the emergence of the next generation of terrorists."

The Al-Qaida terrorist network and other well established terrorist groups used the internet to encourage the intensification of conflicts, with the view of resorting to enhanced violence "by communicating and disseminating propaganda materials and by providing instructions for bomb-making and handling of weapons," according to a statement issued by Interpol at the end of the meeting.

They agreed that sharing of information among different communities are key elements in the fight against international terrorism.

"The rapid evolution of terrorism poses a major challenge to anti-terrorist services world-wide, but we can counter it effectively thanks to enhanced communication and cooperation", Interpol's police services executive director Jean-Michel Louboutin said.
