NEW
YORK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- The world's main automakers gathered in New York to
show off their latest products on Wednesday, kicking off the eye-catching New
York International Auto Show.
"We're thrilled that more than 20 manufacturers have
chosen this year's show for their debut of so many important new vehicles," John
LaSorsa, chairman of the New York International Auto Show, said on Wednesday in
a media preview.
The auto show, which includes vehicle introductions
from nearly every major automaker, is the largest in the New York show's
history, LaSorsa said.
On Wednesday's event, Nissan's Infiniti unit made the
world debut of its all-new '08 Infiniti G Coupe and the Infiniti EX Concept,
which are expected to go into production by the end of the year.
General Motors rolled into the show with one of its
strongest lineups of concept cars in recent history.
In addition to the closely guarded World Concept that
debuted on Wednesday, six production models also made their world premieres.
Chrysler Group continued its successful product blitz
for 2007 with a worldwide debut of a popular sport-utility vehicle at the show.
Lexus staged the world debut of the all-new Lexus LX
570 luxury utility vehicle, which is said to have reached new heights of
performance with a powerful new V8 engine and elevated levels of comfort, style
and safety.
The show is open to public from April
4-15.
