BUENOS AIRES, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The medical
director of the Guemes Hospital in Buenos Aires where Diego Maradona has been
treated since Wednesday denied Tuesday the Argentine soccer star of the 1980s
had tried to commit suicide, as reported by a British daily.
Guemes medical director Hector Pezella said that
Maradona checked into the hospital due to compulsive drinking.
Maradona continues to be sedated, which according to
the doctor is "absolutely necessary" and his health is improving "very well"
from the acute hepatitis inflammation caused by his excessive
drinking.
