Israel: Syria, Iran, Hezbollah preparing for war in summer

    JERUSALEM, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Head of Israeli Military Intelligence Major General Amos Yadlin said Sunday that Syria, Iran and the Hezbollah are preparing for a war in the summer, local newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

    "Their preparation is defensive ahead of war... They fear a war initiated by the Americans because they understand that there might be an attack against Iran over the summer, but not by Israel," Yadlin was quoted as telling the cabinet meeting. Full story

Iran TV says to air two British sailors' "confessions"     

    TEHRAN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran's state-run Arabic satellite television Al-Alam said on Sunday that it will soon air "confessions" of two detained British naval servicemen.

    Al-Alam said it would broadcast soon "some footage of confessions of two British soldiers about being arrested in Iranian waters."

    On Friday, Al-Alam showed a footage of a male British naval serviceman, Nathan Thomas Summers, confessing to entering Iran "without permission."   Full story

Iranian students rally at UK embassy in protest over detained sailors

About 200 students staged a rally outside the British Embassy in central Tehran on Sunday, protesting against British naval servicemen's "illegal entry" into Iranian waters.

    TEHRAN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- About 200 students staged a rally outside the British Embassy in central Tehran on Sunday, protesting against British naval servicemen's "illegal entry" into Iranian waters.

    The students threw rocks and firecrackers at the British Embassy. But dozens of anti-riot police prevented them from entering the embassy compound, witnesses said.

    The students, most of them the Basij militia, also gathered to protest the shooting by British troops near Iranian consulate in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.

    The protesters shouted "death to Britain," "death to America" and "Death to Israel" as they gathered around the British Embassy.    Full story

Iran formally protests against British shooting to its consulate in Iraq

    TEHRAN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran has sent a formal note to the British embassy in Tehran to protest against the Britain's shooting to its consulate in Iraq, the official IRNA news agency reported on Sunday.

    Following the incident of shooting to Iran's consulate in the Iraqi city of Basra last Thursday, the note of protest was given to British embassy in Tehran, an unidentified official was quoted as saying.

    According to Foreign Ministry's media department, the note said that Iran had asked Britain to prevent such actions in the future and respect international laws regarding diplomatic buildings.  Full story
