Olmert invites Arab leaders to peace summit

    JERUSALEM, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday evening that Israel would like to call for a regional conference with all Arab leaders, including the king of Saudi Arabia.

    Olmert made the remarks at a joint news conference with visiting German Chancellor and current EU president Angela Merkel.

    "I want to take this opportunity of being here with the European Union president in order to invite all Arab leaders, including the Saudi king," he said to reporters. Full story

Iran video shows Britons pointing to map

    TEHRAN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Iran's state-run Arabic satellite television Al-Alam on Sunday aired new footage of two detained British naval servicemen.

    The two British naval personnel were shown separately in two video clips, both pointing to a big map of the northern Gulf waters. They were talking in front of the camera, but their voices could not be heard.

    Al-Alam TV said they "have confessed" to entering Iranian waters "illegally" while on an inspection mission, adding the captured sailors had said that they were treated well. Full story

Iran's president renews promise on nuclear success

    TEHRAN, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday renewed his promise that Iranians would soon hear good news on Iran's nuclear success, the official IRNA news agency reported.

    President Ahmadinejad on Sunday renewed his former statement on success of the nuclear program by saying that "the people will hear good news in this respect", IRNA said.

    IRNA gave no more details about Ahmadinejad's remarks, but said that the president made the remarks at Abadan airport in the southwestern province of Khuzestan after he wrapped up his visit to the oil-rich province. Full story
