LIMA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- China values its
all-round cooperative partnership with Peru and is ready to add new vigor to the
traditional friendship between the two countries, a senior Chinese Communist
Party (CPC) official said here Friday.
China will also maintain the momentum of reciprocal
visits by high-ranking officials of the two countries, Li Changchun, member of
the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee,
said during a meeting with President Alan Garcia Friday afternoon.
After the meeting, Li and Garcia attended the signing
ceremony of a document on economic and technological cooperation between the two
countries.
Li said China will enhance political trust, expand
strategic consensus and deepen economic cooperation with Peru and appreciates
Peru for its adherence to the one-China policy.
For his part, Garcia said Peru regards China's
development as an opportunity for Peru, adding that Peru would like to remain a
friend of China and expand bilateral cooperation on trade, economy, energy,
investment, infrastructures and public health.
He reiterated Peru's adherence to the one-China
policy and its support to China's drive to reunify the country.
Li is on a goodwill visit to Peru. Mauricio Mulder,
general secretary of the People's Party of Peru, held a welcoming ceremony for
him at the party's headquarters in Lima Friday evening.
