Japan confirms loans of $539.52 mln for environment protection in China

    BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- China and Japan on Friday signed a document confirming Japanese loan pledges to China in 2006.

    Japan will offer 62.33 billion yen (539.52 million U.S. dollars) in loans to China, according to an exchange of notes signed by Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei and Japanese Ambassador to China Yuji Miyamoto.

    The loans will be used in seven projects, involving environment protection and pollution control.

    So far, Japan has offered 3.27 trillion yen (27.83 billion U.S.dollars) in loans to China.

    A loan agreement for the seven projects was signed by Chinese Vice Minister of Finance Li Yong and Koji Tanami, deputy governor and managing director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation.
