LIMA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Enhancing mutually
beneficial cooperation between China and Peru conforms to the basic interests of
both sides, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said here
Thursday.
Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the
Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during his
meeting with Mercedes Cabanillas, president of the Congress of Peru.
China treasures its friendship with Peru, with which
China established an all-round partnership of cooperation in 2005, Li told
Cabanillas.
Li said he is delighted to see China-friendly forces
continuously growing in the Peruvian Congress and the exchanges increasing
between the two legislatures.
The National People's Congress, the Chinese
legislature, is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Peruvian
Congress in various fields, Li said.
He said the CPC is also willing to carry out various
forms of communications with all friendly parties in the Congress of Peru.
For her part, Cabanillas said Peru's friendly
cooperation with China in different times has pushed forward the development of
Peru and brought about tangible benefits for its people.
Cabanillas said the Peruvian Congress will continue
to support the government's friendly policy toward China.
All parties in the Congress share the wish to learn
from China's successful experience through contacts with the CPC, Cabanillas
added.
Li arrived in Lima on Thursday afternoon for a
goodwill visit. He went directly from the airport to the Congress to meet with
Cabanillas.
