BEIJING, March 30 -- Rescuers are trying to save six construction workers who were buried when a subway construction site collapsed in Beijing. But their fate are unclear.

The accident occurred Wednesday morning on the Number Ten Subway Line, which is under construction, in the city's northwest. The collapsed section covers an area of about 20 square meters and is about eleven meters underground.

Rescuers say it's not known whether the six workers are still alive. The workers are from a state-owned construction company.
