Malaysian central bank signs MOU on Islamic finance 2007-03-27 20:45:29

    KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia, on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) and Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) respectively.

    "The MOUs with QFCRA and DFSA is part of the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Center (MIFC) initiatives to establish collaborative relationships with key strategic partners towards the development of Islamic finance," the central bank said in a press statement released here.

    Cooperation will focus on capacity building and human capital development in Islamic finance as well as mutual coordination on the international Islamic finance development, said the bank.

    At the MOU signing ceremony, Bank Negara Malaysia was represented by Deputy Governor Zamani Abdul Ghani, while QFCRA and DFSA were represented by their Chief Executive Officers, Phillip Thorpe and David Knott respectively.
