BEIRUT, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Emile Lahoud left for Saudi Arabia Tuesday afternoon, heading a Lebanese delegation to participate in the upcoming 19th Arab summit, the official NNA news agency reported.

The Directorate General of the Lebanese Presidency said the delegation includes resigned Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh and resigned Environmental Minister Yaacoub Sarraf.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Fouad Senior accompanied by Economy and Trade Minister Sami Haddad and a media delegation headed for Riyadh to take part in the Arab summit, which is scheduled to be held for March 28-29 in the Saudi capital. Acting Foreign Minister Tarek Mitri was already in Riyadh and had attended the meetings of Arab foreign ministers preparing for the summit.

A draft bill was approved by the Arab foreign ministers Monday calling on the Lebanese political blocs to conduct serious dialogue to resolve the current political impasse in Lebanon. Lebanon is represented by two delegations in the Arab summit, which reflects how deep the division is between Lebanese opposition and pro-government blocs.

Lebanon's current political crisis has lasted for months in which politicians traded insults and their supporters clashed in the streets.

The disputes concentrated mainly on two issues, namely the opposition's demand for a veto in the government and the majority's demand for the ratification of an international tribunal for the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
