WASHINGTON, March 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. media conglomerate Time Inc. said
Monday that it will stop printing the popular Life magazine, Fox News reported.
The magazine will be made available as an online edition only, according to
the report.
Time said that the April 20 will be Life's last print issue, but the brand
name would continue to live on the web.
The company cited a "decline in the newspaper business" and poor
advertising outlook as reasons for its decision to shutter the publication.
Forty-two people will lose their jobs as a result of the closure.
It is not the first time that the Life magazine "died" since itwas first
published as a weekly in 1936.
It had dominated the market for more than 30 years in its earlyyears, but
succumbed to television and changing tastes and ceased publication in 1972.
It appeared intermittently as a "special" until 1978 and as a monthly from
1978 to 2000. It returned as a supplement in 2004.
