OTTAWA, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Canadians ranked global warming at the top of their concerns along with health care, suggested a new poll released on Thursday.

About 30 percent of Canadians believed global warming was the top issue for politicians to address, according to an online survey conducted by Angus Reid Strategies.

That was almost as many as the 31 percent of Canadians who put health care as the top priority,

The survey also found that almost four in five Canadians, or 77percent, were convinced global warming was real.

Almost half of the respondents believed climate change would affect their lives and those of future generations, it said.

About 42 percent said it would not significantly affect their lives, but would have an impact on the lives of future generation.

Only 12 percent of those surveyed viewed global warming as "junk science" and only two percent believed global warming was not happening at all.

The survey of about 3,600 people, billed as Canada's largest climate change study, was conducted between March 6 and March 19 and has a margin of error of 1.6 per cent, 19 times out of 20. กก
