CARACAS, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Tickets for the 2007 Copa America will be on sale starting in April, and their prices will be published in the next few days, Eduardo Alvarez, Venezuela's sport's minister said at a Wednesday press conference.
Speaking in the Simon Bolivia Room of Venezuela's seat of government, the Miraflores Palace, he said the seats would be numbered, so that fans would be more comfortable.
The tickets will be classified into four types: main box, VIP area, side terraces and people's terraces.
He gave the total cost of the event as 600 billion bolivars (279 million U.S. dollars), in infrastructure, and 900 billion bolivars (418 million dollars) in hotel building.
"2007 Copa America investment has been an element motivating the building and improvement of airports, inns, hotels and communication measures," Alvarez said, adding that almost all the stadiums were at least 90 percent ready, apart from those in Barinas and Barquisimeto, which are 79 percent ready.
He added that local committees will meet on Wednesday in the Caracas Hilton to discuss security.
This year's Copa, the 42nd edition, is the first ever to be held in Venezuela. There are nine sites for the tournament, which are divided into three groups with one lead stadium, and two subsidiary stadiums, each.
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, will compete in the Copa, divided into three groups in the opening phase.
