MELBOURNE, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese teenage diver Wang Xin clinched the title in the women's 10-meter platform final here on Wednesday, the first for China at recent three World Championships.

The 14-year-old Asian champion Wang sealed the win with a score of 432.85 points, ending the dream team's drought in this event for past two Olympics and two World Championships.

Wang's teammate Chen Ruolin made an unusual mistake in her third dive, but still managed to finish second with 410.30 points.

The 14-year-old Chen had enjoyed the winning moment on Monday, as she triumphed in the women's 10-meter platform synchronized event with partner Jia Tong.

Christin Steuer from Germany took the bronze with a total score of 386.85 points.

Before Wang's victory, Luo Yutong and He Chong made one-two finish in the men's one-meter springboard final.

Luo's winning score was 477.40 points. He Chong was dropped behind by a margin of 7.75 points.

While Chinese divers swept four golds, Russia synchronized swimmers kept their overwhelming dominance by collecting their fourth consecutive gold in Melbourne.

In the team technical routine final, the Russian girls swam confidently to earn an almost perfect score of 99.000 points.

Both Japan and Spain kept their positions in Montreal two years ago. Japan collected the silver medal with 97.833 points, and Spain picked up the bronze with 97.167 points.

China made breakthrough again by finishing fourth in the event. It was the team's best result at Olympics and World Championships.

In the duet technical final on Tuesday, identical twin Jiang Tingting and Jiang Wenwen had brought the Chinese synchronized swimming into a new high level with the fourth placing.

Russia also won a gold through the effort of open water swimmer Vladimir Dyatchin in the men's 10km event.

Dyatchin completed his journey in the sea in one hour 55 minutes 32.52 seconds, only 0.06 faster than the German favorite Thomas Lurz, who had won the 5km event on Sunday.

Dyatchin's compatriot Evgeny Drattsev claimed his second bronze medal with a result of 1:55:47.31.

After splitting the four golds on Wednesday, Russia and China now still hold the top two positions in the medal table with seven and four golds respectively.

Virginie Dedieu will try to win the first gold for France at the Championships on Thursday as the solo queen is going to defend her title in the solo free routine final.
