QUITO, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Peru's under-17 soccer team is playing Colombia on Tuesday for three vital points in the six-way South American championship, which awards four places for the South Korea-based World Cup.
In this game, Peru can once again play top goal-scorer, Christian La Torre, who was missing from the game where Brazil crushed Peru 4-0, because of a red card in the Venezuela-Peru game where Peru won 2-1.
The Colombia game, Peru's third, begins at 3:50p.m. local time (20:50 GMT) in Olympic Stadium in the Ecuadorian city of Ibarra, around 100km to the north of the capital, Quito.
"We are doing well and we are ready to beat Colombia, not just to win a place in the South Korea World Cup, but also fight for the South American title," said Juan Ore, Peru's manager.
Peru was the top team in Group A, during the qualification phase, defeating Brazil 2-1, crushing Bolivia 4-0, losing to Chile1-3 and drawing 0-0 with Ecuador.
In the second phase, Brazil leads with six points followed by Colombia, Venezuela and Peru each with three points. Ecuador is last and has no points.
