Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq

WELLINGTON, March 20 (Xinhua) -- About 200 protesters gathered on the steps of Parliament, Wellington, Tuesday morning, to commemorate the American-led war against Iraq four years ago.

The rally was organized by Peace Action Wellington.

Spokesperson Valerie Morse said hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed in the past four years.

She said the United States and its allies have brought horror to every corner of Iraq.

Morse said New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark should voice New Zealand's opposition to the war when she meets U.S. President George Bush this Thursday.
