MOSCOW, March 20 (Xinhua) -- A fire in a retirement home killed at least 30 people early on Tuesday in southern Russia, the Interfax news agency quoted local officials as reporting.

    The fire, which also injured 27 others, broke out in Kamyshevatskaya village in the Kuban region.

    A total of 93 people were staying at the facility when the fire broke out.

    The RIA Novosti news agency quoted emergency situations ministry officials as saying that the fire was reported at 0111 Moscow time (2211 GMT Monday).

    Officials said those injured have been rushed to a regional hospital.
