GAZA, March 18 (Xinhua) -- An international network of aid embargo on the Palestinians began collapsing shortly after the national unity government was sworn in, new Palestinian Information Minister Mustafa al-Barghouti said on Sunday.
Speaking at an interview with Voice of Palestine radio, Barghouti said, "Norway announced immediate lift of embargo and decided to deal with all members of the government and to restore ties."
Barghouti continued that "France, Spain, Italy and Sweden are walking on the same direction."
Key international donors imposed a financial embargo on the Palestinians since former Hamas-led government came into power last March which refused to recognize Israel, renounce violence and accept signed agreements.
President Mahmoud Abbas swore in the new coalition government headed by Ismail Haneya of Hamas, grouping two mainstream movements of Hamas and Fatah as well as other parties.
The new coalition is scheduled to convene Sunday to discuss two key problems that the former Hamas-led government failed tore solve: security chaos and international aid embargo.
The government's platform called for expanding Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire and respecting interim peace deals.
But Israel wants to hear from the government a full commitment to recognizing Israel, giving up violence and abiding by peace deals, set forward by the Middle East peace mediators, known as the Quartet.
