Haneya: first cabinet meeting of coalition gov't on Sunday

    GAZA, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Incoming Prime Minister Ismail Haneya announced on Saturday that the first cabinet meeting of the new national coalition government would be held on Sunday in both Gaza and Ramallah.

    Haneya told reporters after his government was sworn in that "President Mahmoud Abbas would attend the first cabinet meeting of the first ever national unity government."

    "Tomorrow (Sunday), the Palestinian government would head its way towards applying its Palestinian plans and agendas," Haneya said, welcoming a Norwegian decision to end the embargo imposed on the Palestinians.

    GAZA, March 17 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian national unity government on Saturday passed the vote of confidence in the parliament.

    Although 41 lawmakers, including Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council Aziz Dweik, are detained in Israeli jails and four absent, out of 132 lawmakers in total, 83 of 87 attended voted for and three against and one abstained.
