SEOUL, March 13 (Xinhua) -- South Korean Unification Ministry said on
Tuesday that a working-level talks between Seoul and Pyongyang will be held from
Wednesday to discuss a safety guarantee for proposed test runs of the
Inter-Korean railways.
In a statement released here, the ministry said the two-day meeting will be launched
on Wednesday in Kaesong, a border city of the Democratic People's
Republic of Korea (DPRK).
The two sides will focus on a military safety guarantee, the South Korea's
Yonhap News Agency quoted unnamed officials of the Unification Ministry as
saying.
Ko Kung-bin, chief of the Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Bureau, will
lead the two-member South Korean delegation to the talks. The DPRK delegation
will be led by Pang Kang-su, chief of the DPRK National Economic Cooperation
Committee, the Unification Ministry said.
Unification Minister Lee Jae-joung said Tuesday that South Korea believes
that the DPRK has the will to discuss and reach agreement on the safety
guarantee with South Korea.
South Korea and the DPRK had planned to conduct test runs of two Inter-Korean railways in late May last year. However, the DPRK canceled the ceremony one day before the scheduled test runs.
