BEIJING, March 12 -- Mexican-born actress Salma Hayek is engaged to French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault and is pregnant with their first child, her spokeswoman said Friday.

    "Francois-Henri Pinault and his fiancee, Salma Hayek, are happy to announce they are expecting the arrival of their first child," spokeswoman Ina Treciokas said in a one-paragraph statement. No further details were provided.

    The 40-year-old actress has starred in films such as "Frida," for which she received an Oscar nomination, "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" and "After the Sunset." She is one of the executive producers of ABC's "Ugly Betty," in which she recently guest starred as a two-faced magazine editor.

    Pinault, 44, is chairman and chief executive officer of the luxury goods company PPR SA, which owns high-end labels such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Stella McCartney.
