BEIJING, March 9 -- While everybody was celebrating the annual International Women's Day on March 8, some volunteers from a psychological aid center in east China's Nanjing City proposed to make March 9 a "Men's Day," in a gesture of solidarity with the male population.
They explain that the celebration on March 8 makes
many men feel left out, especially when kids take out the presents they have
prepared for their moms. Dads might feel embarrassed by such scenes. These
volunteers believe that the celebrating of a men's festival will help to remedy
the situation.
They add that making a special festival for men and
giving them more care could also benefit the family as a whole. This festival,
they claim, could offer men a chance to rest and to work on their close
relationships.
