BEIJING, March. 9 -- The movie "Babel," which
received seven Oscar nominations this year, will premiere in select Chinese
cities in theaters on March 13, with promotional activities in the country
leading up to its opening.
It is the latest Oscar-nominated movie to be screened
for Chinese audiences in theaters this year.
It will air without dubbing so moviegoers can watch
the film with Chinese subtitles.
Shot in Africa, North America and Asia in five
different languages, the gritty drama revolves around the repercussions of the
shooting of an American woman (Cate Blanchett) vacationing with her husband
(Brad Pitt) in Morocco.
It received seven nominations at the 79th Academy
Awards, including best picture, screenplay and director for Alejandro Gonzalez
Inarritu.
