BEIJING, March 8 (Xinhuanet) --
Sony announced it is expanding its service to include a Windows Mobile platfrom via a
gamma version of Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 on Windows Mobile powered devices.
The service will enable consumers to use the platform on 75 Windows Mobile devices from major manufacturers, according to media reports
Thursday.
The internet search company said the service will be
supported by more than 175 different mobile phone models, including more than
100 models currently listed on its go.yahoo.com website. The Yahoo! Go 2.0 is an
application that gives consumers the ability to personalize with content from
the entire Internet and a reinvention of mobile search.
"Consumers have been clamoring for us to bring Yahoo!
Go 2.0 to Windows Mobile devices since we launched the service less than two
months ago," said Marco Boerries, senior vice president of Yahoo's Connected
Life. "There are millions of mobile phones on the Windows Mobile platform in the
market today and consumers with these devices want to use the most advanced,
exciting services available.
"Our innovative Yahoo! Go 2.0 service finally brings
the open Internet to the mobile phone and gives consumers the compelling
experience they have been looking for," he added.
"Yahoo! Go 2.0 includes an exciting set of features
that helps people access their favorite Internet content while mobile," said
John O'Rourke, Microsoft Corp general manager. "The combination of this
application with a Windows Mobile powered device will allow our joint customers
to get quick access to the Yahoo! experiences they want -- from news to e-mail
to photo sharing -- all from a single, powerful device."
